Now hiring - Executive Director

Goochland County Volunteer Fire-Rescue Association is actively searching for an Executive Director to drive and support the organization through its 7th decade of service. With 5 fire stations and 170 volunteers, the Association delivers critical first responder services to citizens, businesses and visitors in Goochland County, VA.

The Executive Director serves at the pleasure of the Goochland County Volunteer Fire Association's Board of Directors and is directly responsible to the President to carry out the mission of the Association.  The successful candidate will attend and be an active participant in all meetings of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.  They will coordinate the management of the Association's assets (5 fire stations) in cooperation with the Fire-Rescue Chief (or their designee) of the Goochland County Department of Fire Rescue and Emergency Services. The ED will be responsible for: 

• budget preparation, 
• fundraising appeals,
• capital improvement projects,
• vendor point-of-contact,
• Goodwill and brand management,
• insurance claims, contracting,
• policy development and compliance,
• working closely with the Association Treasurer,
• supporting volunteers so they can focus on first responding, and
• other tasks assigned by the Board of Directors.

Familiarity with the Fire Rescue industry and Goochland County is desirable. The successful candidate will frequently interact with Goochland citizens, business owners, County administration and staff, vendors and Association Officers and volunteers. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be screened with a background check. The position is full-time and income will be commensurate with the background, experience and skill set of the successful candidate.
